Tips for using structured curriculum with the Hearthstone Education Plan

  • Begin each school day with a devotional and religious studies.  Incorporate scripture, music, poetry and art in religious studies.

  • Plan 2-3 story times each day to read stories from history and classic literature using the Well-educated heart model

  • Incorporate music, poetry, service, story, and spirit in daily studies

  • Adjust history and literature assignments as necessary to correlate with the Well-educated heart model

  • Adjust history studies to focus on family and religious history before the age of 8

  • Incorporate student-created textbooks as a method for recording and documenting the things students are learning in their science, history, and literature studies.

  • Substitute Nature Studies for science in the Foundation age group (ages 4-10)

  • The science rotation at Hearthstone has been designed for families with multiple children to keep family members on the same subject each month.  Families may adjust the science schedule as needed to meet the needs of their own family.
